fears

More doodles from some time last year, this time of Ted and Jude. Although Jude is looking a little bit like Arya Stark here, with the quote to boot.

I added the bit about the fear being debilitating though, because it is… Perhaps this was the right time to post this, what with the setback on Friday and all. It is the fear that is the worst.

If it looks like all T & J do are stand around looking thoughtful, it’s probably because they’re my usual go-to to get thoughts and feelings out, and I definitely think too much. They are actually a bit more interesting than that.

the pack survives

leave a comment »

I -finally- scanned in a bunch of my doodles from 2017, and I’m going to slowly post them beginning with this one:

wolf copy

(Lamy pen on proper sketchbook, lightly edited)

The end of the year and the start of a new year is always a great time to be extra introspective – I say extra because I think I am always pretty introspective, I am always (over)thinking, looking into myself perhaps almost a little too much.

Over the coming year I hope I can look outwards a little bit more… and think of the pack.

That is going to be very difficult, and just to demonstrate how much I dislike human beings, here is part of a “poem” that I wrote some years ago:

People of the world
I must confess
That at this moment
I hate you all

…Yep.

I really like bears, no matter how much you tell me they are not as funny in real life.

I promise I’ll draw something new for my next post! T_T Maybe I’ll use the office scanner. #minorrebel

Gangsters with big lips, and laundry

with 3 comments

I am quite determined to have at least ONE post in 2013, so here it is:

Scan5

The top doodle is about my love of doing laundry. I mean, it is still a chore, but whenever I am travelling overseas, nothing quite beats the domestic joy of having freshly-laundered clothes that I washed myself. There is just a strange sense of satisfaction that comes with it. Also, I love the smell of freshly-laundered clothes. Also, I like the word “freshly-laundered”.

I also like the idea of this gangster biker chick with big lips and her whole attitude is just, whatever. I could imagine her smoking and flicking the ashes on any passerby with a douche-y face she doesn’t like. That’s who I want to be in my next life (the chick, not the passerby with douche-y face).

I need to start doodling again! Not the easiest thing with a full time job that tends to consume your whole life. :-/

law school doodles

leave a comment »

I was cleaning out my law school notes yesterday night (only somewhat successfully..) and I realised what I have been missing the past 1-2 years: my compulsive habit of doodling! Why is it that I can’t get rid of ANY bad habits (biting fingernails, poking pimples) but I didn’t even notice losing this habit that actually is perfectly fine??

From 2008-2010:

I don’t remember where this particular set of notes came from but I *think* it is from the Singapore Legal System module (on constitutionalism).

I like doodling hands and I like this particular pair. From Contract Law notes.

My favourite doodling subjects (besides fat animals (??)). For a long time I’ve wanted to draw out their story in a picture book form but drawing people is difficult. T_T After I doodled this I thought – hey, this would be a nice simple cartoony style for a picture book. But I think I would get rid of the mini eyelashes on Ted since cartoon men can’t seem to have any lashes without looking a little tranny.

I was supposed to finish cleaning out my notes this morning, but I woke up late.. I dreamt that there was a train station leading straight to Venice, but somehow the station my friend and I were headed to was an S-bahn station (with the green sign and all), except that the ‘S’ stood for Siegel, which is a canal in Amsterdam @_@. The result of speeding through Western Europe in a month.

Sudbin, Rachmaninov, and Jude

with 2 comments

From summer last year:

I went to see Yevgeny Sudbin, my favourite male pianist, play Rachmaninov around June/July last year and it was so beautiful.  *_* He stayed to sign autographs during the interval and I got another autograph from him although I still did not summon the guts to ask for a photo. So I contented myself by doodling him.

And then I drew Jude because she also likes music, and I’m pretty sure she would also enjoy Rachmaninov.

Sketchbook page – October

leave a comment »

A page from my sketchbook from October:

1. I saw an exchange student studying in the library and couldn’t help thinking how cool he looked even though he was studying. o_o But when I tried to doodle him it ended up looking like a vampire instead.

2. Drawn sometime after the Westlife concert on 3 October. T_T

3. Due to the failed attempt at drawing Cool Exchange Student, I doodled the stuff on his table instead. But still cannot capture how he manages to look cool while studying. Need to know what cool pills he is taking.

Larry the cat

Inspired by this article from BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-15717341

David Cameron’s hair was surprisingly hard to draw! (See the eraser marks making a grey fuzz on his head in the third doodle.)

curious snail

The snail that I mentioned doodling some posts ago:

Yes, remarkable, I know. Snails are really hypnotic to watch sometimes… There are a lot of them in the rainy season so I have to watch where I step.

shameless cat

leave a comment »

Finally, doodles from 2011! Earlier around September/October:

Drawings based on a real cat! When Denise and I slept over at Suhui’s house (shortly after she just came back from London) a stranger cat came into the house. I dubbed it Shameless Cat because it started trespassing, going around the house, sniffing and climbing at things, at one point even surveying the walls. It stayed sat and stayed with us for a while as we watched a sad Japanese movie but eventually it left without warning.

My old scanner had been malfunctioning for a while but this week the printer also started going mad, refusing to accept the ink cartridge (which had been working for the last few weeks!). So my dad being the one who magically fixes all things technical, solved both problems by getting a printer equipped with a flatbed scanner. (He said he bought it because it was only $59. HA HA my dad the shopper.) It turns out the scanning quality is not bad at all. Just hoping that this printer will last longer than the last one!
