Waterlilies (updated)
I went painting on Sunday and finally “finished” the previously-WIP painting.
I say “finished” because it was very difficult to declare it “finished”… I felt that I could keep going on trying to make it better because it can never be perfect. =_=
Decided to add some fishes into the empty space because (1) there was an empty space, and (2) who doesn’t like fishes? bloop.
Freak Fish
From 2011 I think?
Fish are some of my favourite animals… and the funnier-looking, the better. I probably started doodling this lonely Freak Fish after watching a TV program about the “Chinese fish” invasion in the US… (the real name of the fish is the snakehead). It is a fish with some ferocious fangs, that attacks humans, and can actually survive and crawl/wriggle out of water at least for a while. I even entertained the thought of having one as a pet, because (1) it can attack humans, and (2) I can walk it on a leash. 😎 Alas, so far no one has considered my idea as even remotely feasible.
Mr. Freak Fish however is not violent at all. He just has some scary-looking teeth but is gentle and a vegetarian. Think Edward Scissorhands, as a fish.
introducing Mr. Charlie Poplin
another sketch from 2010: (colourified in 10 mins :x)
Mr. Poplin walked into my head as I was helping Denise with one of her art school projects… It was a project to create a brand and one of her ideas was to create a name out of fabric names like poplin, herringbone and twill. Herringbone => herring, poplin => chaplin, and hence I found Mr. Charlie Poplin. I also found the idea of a dandy gentlefish (marine equivalent of a gentleman) quite amusing. He he :-p
The scanner is not really working now so I will keep digging for old things that I still like, to post. :’-D In the meantime I will keep up the drawing. I hope. Yesterday I drew a snail. …Yeap. Totally on a roll!
